Lesson 4: Markets and flows
A Workshop by Tuesday Reitano , Rumbidzai Matamba , Willis Okumu , Elsadig Mohamed Ahmed and Gideon Ofosu-Peasah
About this Workshop
In recent decades, our understanding of organised crime has undergone a fundamental shift. Instead of being viewed solely and primarily through a law enforcement lens, scholars increasingly analyse organised crime as a form of business - a complex economic phenomenon that operates according to many of the same principles as legitimate commerce.
This lesson explores the economic perspective of organised crime, analysing the way criminal networks function as criminal enterprises pursuing financial gain and governed by the same economic structures that govern legitimate enterprises such as market dynamics.
